Dear friends and family,
Hello! I hope you are all doing well!!
As some of you may know, I began attending Lifesong Community Church in Fall 2010, and have since been able to call this little community my home.
Almost exactly one year ago, the head pastor of our church, Pastor Jon Hori, and his wife Sonia prayerfully decided to adopt Eden, an 8-year-old girl with special needs from an orphanage in China. You can read more about the Hori family and their adoption journey at Pastor Jon’s blog here.
So where is this all going?
This Spring, I have the opportunity to partner with the Horis in bringing their daughter, Eden, to her forever home! Together, through a program called Both Hands, we will be striving to live out James 1:27, “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” The project is meant to raise funds for Eden, while also providing care for a local widow (typically this takes place in the form of landscaping/home improvement).
Much like asking for sponsors to run a 5K, I am asking you to prayerfully consider sponsoring me as I work with our Both Hands team for one day.
If you are interested in learning more and receiving an official support letter, please enter your mailing address here (or below) by next Thursday, March 29th.
Finally, I’ve been learning more and more that prayer is such an essential cornerstone for life in Christ!! So please pray for Pastor Jon and his family as they continue the process of adoption, that they would wait joyfully and that God would continue opening doors to bring Eden home. Please also pray for the widow that Pastor Jon and Sonia have selected, that we would be able to minister to her and show her the Lord’s great love and care. Lastly, please pray for the widows and orphans of this world, that as the body of Christ, our hearts would break for them and that we would reach out with grace and love as Christ’s hands and feet.
Thank you so much, everyone!!
Grace & peace,
